This is a lovely vegetable side dish to serve alongside grilled or roasted meat as well served on top of a salad.  It is a very simple dish and calls for minimal ingredients which makes this a perfectly elegant addition to any meal.  




12 oz of fresh asparagus 

1 tablespoon of  extra virgin Olive Oil

1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

1/2 to 1 teaspoon of grated fresh Parmesan cheese



Preheat your oven to 400 degrees

Remove the woody ends of each stem by simply snapping them off.  The stem will break off at its natural breaking point 

Start by bending the spear at about 3/4 of the way down from the top and start to bend the spear moving your way down and it will snap where it should.  

Wash them under cold running water removing any debris that may get caught inside the tips.  

Pat them dry and place in a small baking tray but large enough that the asparagus are not on top of each other.  Drizzle the asparagus

with your oil, vinegar, seasonings and cheese and mix well and place into your hot oven on the top rack for approximately 10 to 12 minutes for really thin spears

and anywhere from 18 to 20 minutes for a thicker spear.
